Deputy Academics

MR. Chege

Apart from the normal roles of the deputy principal, the deputy principal Academics is in-charge of day to day running of academic programmes as summarized below:

  1. Ensures proper implementation of curriculum from Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development
  2. Monitors syllabus coverage and lesson planning
  3. Guides subject selection and academic pathways. This is critical this year because of CBE
  4. Observes lessons and evaluates teaching methods. This is done in conjunction with QASO officer
  5. Checks professional records (schemes of work, lesson plans) through the office of QASO
  6. Prepares the academic calendar
  7. Organizes exams and assessment schedules
  8. Coordinates remedial and enrichment programs
  9. Oversees internal exams and marking through the Dean's office
  10. Analyzes performance trends through the Dean's office
  11. Works with Kenya National Examinations Council on national exam readines
  12. Identifies weak learners and plans interventions through Dean's office
  13. Organizes academic counseling and guidance
  14. Works with Heads of Department {HODs} and Subjects {HOSs} to set targets
  15. Reviews departmental reports and performance after every fortnight
  16. Ensures availability of teaching resources both textbooks and digital tools
  17. Maintains academic standards and policies
  18. Monitors teaching materials and evaluation methods
  19. Upholds academic integrity
  20. Communicates with parents on academic progress through issuance of documents like Report forms, during the academic days which are held in term 1
  21. Oversees implementation of education reforms. A case in point is the current CBE curriculum
